Brand New:
Overseen in Athens

For years you've been watching your tongue so that what you say doesn't end up here. Now, you'll have to watch how you look. You never know who has a camera.

Here's the link

last come, first served

52 [+ / -]     Sep 24, 2008

  • Girl: (trying to sit in her Section 109 seat 15 minutes before kickoff) I don't mean to be a bitch, but my ticket says my seat is right here, and this is where I'm standing. I've been here for four years.
  • Guy: If you've been here for four years, you should now the drill.
  • (Guy turns around)

Yeah, well, I've been here four years and I have great tickets to show for it. But I also have A JOB, which sometimes prevents me from showing up three hours early. Try it sometime.

Bitter much? If those people have been standing there to claim those seats for hours, sucks for you.

I'm not bitter. I get to sit in my section, but not because I whine to security. I wasn't saying that I'm entitled to sit there...I just make it happen by being a bitch to the person who's in my way. Yay!

It's exciting to finally get your own lower level tickets. But by the time you get them, hopefully you have been to enough games to realize how it works. In case you havent gotten there early enough to notice, within sections seating IS first come first serve. For one reason or another I have gotten to a game close to kickoff, and have just gone to meet my friends who already had seats. As far as just getting security, thats hilarious. They see how it goes. They realize there are probably more than twice as many people down there are seats.
Moral of the story- the seat on your ticket means a lot less than your commitment to watch the game. Show up early, cheer loud, and stay. This weekend, you're going to need to be EXTRA early!! Goooooo dawgs!

It is NOT first come, first serve, or else the ticket would say General Admission seating. If they want to sit at their seat, they should be able to, since they are doing what they are supposed to do. Until that is changed by the Athletic Association, students should respect that.

But... but...

They're FANS! They're ENTITLED to sit there because they've been drinking in those seats all day!!

Oh the wisdom of drunk douchebags.

There's no way to get everyone in the seats on their ticket. The only reason it doesn't say "General Admission" is because the best they can do is get everyone sortof distributed into different sections. If I were the athletic association, I'd sell duplicates of the tickets in the student section...it's not like anyone would notice...

dude, you are SOO wrong said...
so, I'm guessing you are a freshman. Only freshmen are turely naive enough to think that your seat is where your ticket says.

Actually you're wrong...if the person is being such a douche that they wont get out of your spot then an usher/security will make them move. It wouldn't be such a big deal if seats were given out completely randomly. If they did that then I agree it should be first come but its not like that. The earlier you get in line to pick up your tickets the better seats you get. So, maybe if you're such die a hard fan you should think about getting in line a little earlier to pick up your tickets.

what the hell kind of response is that?! If you have been here for 5 years then you know that ticket pickup is done by the number of hours that you have so the athletic association can pretend that everything is fair and the longer you have spent at the university, the better tickets you get. SO, it is not possible for a die-hard fan to pick up their tickets earlier if they are an underclassman.

Also, if you think that you can come into the game 5 minutes before kickoff and sit in "your" seat, then you are a HUGE ass. Basic general admission in the student section is how it works. If you don't like it, GRADUATE!!

Ticket pickup is done by hours but the earlier you get there on your day to pick up tickets the better seats you get. Next time you might want to know what you're talking about before you try and call someone out.

Don't be a little girl dude. You don't go to games because somebody stands in your seat? Cry me a river. If thats whats stopping you from going to games, I'm sure you would find an excuse not to go if you did get to stand by your seat.

First of all....I'm not a dude. I'm female. And second of all..I don't choose not to go to games because someone will be in my seat. I don't go because everyone is obnoxious...

In a perfect world, yes, we'd all sit in our seats. And maybe, one day, the university and the ushers will enforce it. But when you have two, maybe three ushers per aisle, it's impossible to keep everyone in their seats before kickoff, let alone during the game. The main thing about this is that while it's not perfect, it's simply how the system has worked for at least the last few years. I can't say I would blame anyone for being upset about this system when you have kickass Section 109 seats. I've been here for four years and earned that section too. But when you get upset and try to get security involved, to everyone else you pretty much just seem like the girl in the front of the room who reminds the teacher to assign homework in the last minute of class.

I have to say that the Kappa Sigs up in the 311 section didn't think that seating is "first come first serve" since they kicked everyone out of the section that they "owned" (yes, we were told that they "own" the entire section). They also demanded to see tickets and threatened to call security if people didn't move. Very classy, guys. The whole, this is the seat I paid for and I need to stand in it, did NOT go over well in my actual seat when I was forced to move so your drunk girl friend could stand in the seat I original had. In fact, when I moved, I was told that seating was "first come first serve". So, lets get our stories straight. Which is it?
